brief history:History
Personality: Tommy Merlyn embodies the word dichotomy. When we first meet Tommy, he comes off as a typical frat boy, a selfish, reckless, light-hearted, carefree, laid-back, party-loving, spoiled brat with no cares in the world were often words used to describe Tommy. The thing is, while all of these words are apt descriptors to who he was, it was mostly just a front. Coming from a wealthy family, Tommy learned quickly to do what was expected of him, no questions asked. The problem with that line of thinking is that wasn’t what Tommy was on the inside. Tommy is an immensely loyal person, especially to his best friend Oliver Queen. Tommy is the type of guy that will love someone no matter what. He knew that Oliver was cheating and yet, he was still his best friend and he still loved Oliver despite his obvious faults. Tommy is the type of man to step up to the plate when the chips are down. A prime example is stepping into the role of big brother to Thea when Oliver was presumed died. He did so without question, not realizing that Thea was his half-sister. He is also the type of man that knows when to take a step back when needed as well. He is so happy to see Oliver alive and safe that it is an automatic response to get Oliver to rejoin the party scene again, but Tommy has matured in the time that he and Oliver were apart. He became a rock for both Laurel and Thea, and it is his affection for Laurel that is changing him into a more mature and selfless man.
Tommy is not the type of guy that stays down for long. He has always seemed to have a strained relationship with his father Malcolm Merlyn, mostly due to his mother’s death at a young age. Tommy never wanted for anything due to his trust fund, except for the one thing he truly desired, his father’s love and unconditional acceptance. Malcolm held him at a distance and did not see that Tommy was trying to be a different kind of man from his Dad, a better man. Instead, Malcolm cut off his trust fund, refusing to see the potential good that Tommy could do with it. Tommy became angry and even bitterer towards Malcolm. His resolve to prove himself to his father drove him to apply himself more fully in his relationship with Laurel, wanting to be the kind of man that was deserving of a woman like Laurel. He sought out Oliver to ask for a job managing Verdant, Oliver’s new venture since returning to Starling City. Tommy has a good heart and a kind demeanor, coming up with a plan to use the club to host a fundraiser to help the families of the fireman. His generosity, even made Oliver question what happened to the real Tommy Merlyn. It hurts Tommy that no one in his life, with the exception of Laurel, can see how much he has changed. Tommy views his father as a power-driven, money-loving, uncaring man, who would rather abandon his only son for 2 years than have to deal with him. It causes much bitterness in Tommy, but when Malcolm is shot, Tommy’s true character, his love of family and friends, allows their relationship to warm slightly, even if it is only for a moment.
The one thing that Tommy could always count on, was Oliver Queen. His best friend was there for him when his life turned to shit. His family took him in when Malcolm left for two years to avenge Rebecca’s death. Tommy’s world was turned upside down when he found out that Oliver was the Hood. It wouldn’t have hurt as much if Oliver hadn’t told him that he had no intention of telling him the truth. Tommy was left devastated and reeling from knowing that the only reason Oliver shared his secret identity was to get Tommy to trust him so he could save Malcolm from a poison-laced bullet, nut trusting Tommy enough to keep his secret. Their friendship is shaken and Tommy himself his rocked to his core. He begins to question everything he knew about his life, his father, and Oliver. Tommy was not the most rational person in this time of crisis. He pushed Laurel away and towards Oliver believing that she would always choose him over Tommy. He is lost in a sea of pain when he finds out his father is the Dark Archer and turns his back on Malcolm fracturing their relationship permanently.
Despite, finding out how evil his father was, Tommy had enough kindness and compassion to both keep Oliver’s secret and save his father’s life. Tommy is a moral man and even though he thinks Oliver is a murderer, he asks Oliver to spare Malcolm. Tommy has an inferiority complex born out of jealousy of the life Ollie had and Tommy desperately wanted. When faced with the worst case scenario, Tommy became a hero in his own right, saving Laurel from a collapsing building. He reconciled with Oliver telling him of his jealousy and doubts. Tommy is selfless in saving Laurel, confessing his love for her. In his final moments, he is comforted by Oliver and he passed away in peace with his best friend.
Powers and Abilities: Tommy can play the piano and make a mean Manhattan. In other words, he has no extraordinary ability other than being approachable to almost anyone.
Meta Power:
Flawless Restoration: The ability to heal/mend all kinds of damage, including mental, conceptual, emotional, spiritual, mystical, and physical. "Laurel: You look handsome!
Tommy: I try not to, it just keeps happening." is the reason I chose the power. It will take some time and a lot of help for Tommy to understand his power. He will start small and work up from there.

Tommy grabbed his head tightly as the world spun around him. He was lucky he didn't fall down or worse yet, puke his guts out. He felt like he really could at this point. He felt for a hole where the rebar had been. "Huh," He said with a relieved half smile. "Well, I don't know where here is, but it beats a hole in the chest yeah?" He spoke out loud, but to no one in particular.
He took a deep breath looking around. He could really use a stiff drink right about now. Hell, he's way more than earned a crappy morning after. At least Laurel was safe.... it was all worth it as long as she made it out. His hand rested on a door knob for half a beat, taking in a huge deep breath. His face was serious, but his shoulders had relaxed some as he continued to breath.
His world might be shit back home, but here, in this place, he was alive. He didn’t have a hole in his chest and the last thing that he would ever see in this world would not be Ollie’s panicked look. “There are worse places to die,” He mused to himself. He ran a hand over his shirt and the blood soaked material was replaced with a pristine shirt. “Maybe that’s what this place does,” He spoke, turning the knob and stepping out of the doorway, into his future.
“Life doesn’t give you many second chances,” He mused, pasting on his most charming smile. “Let’s make the most of this one shall we?”
